  • Does the property have beachfront access?

    Yes! The ocean is just 140 ft from the back porch, at the end of the garden, where there is a sturdy metal staircase leading down to the beach. Low tide reveals a stunning sandy beach where you’ll get to experience open blue skies and Atlantic ocean views. There is a kayak, a canoe, and beach toys for guests to use.

  • Is it warm enough to swim in Howe Bay?

    The water temperatures on the southern side of the island are warm for the Atlantic. From about 13C degrees in May, the ocean reaches around 23C degrees in July and August. Intrepid swimmers have also been known to enjoy the the Bay into late September.

  • Can I bring our pet with us?

    We know that dogs are a part of the family and our summer home is dog-friendly too. There’s a dog bed and food bowls for your furry pal. Please make sure your dog stays off the other properties, pick up after them, and use the hose to rinse them down after the beach. Due to a severe allergy, cats are not permitted.

  • Is your house child-friendly?

    This is a family-oriented vacation home! To make things easy you’ll find a crib in one of the bedrooms. There are life jackets for small people and beach toys available.

  • Can we drink tap water at the property?

    Yes the tap water is safe to drink. The water comes from a well on the property which is subject to annual testing by the province. Annual water reports are located in the back of the house manual.

  • Is there Central Air?

    There is no central air but each of the bedrooms has a fan. The windows all have screens and the ocean breeze keeps the air cool in the evenings.

  • A family emergency has come up, can I cancel our dates and re-book for next year?

  • I’m planning a work-from-home trip. How reliable is the internet service?

    We recently signed up for Starlink internet service and are happy to report an excellent internet connection that supports video calling as well as streaming services.

  • What’s a quintessential PEI thing to do while we’re there?

    While not located near the Anne of Green Gables homestead, there are so many things to to when visiting the east! Eat a lobster roll by the beach, buy potatoes from a roadside produce stand, dance the night away at a traditional ceilidh, or visit a Confederation lighthouse.

  • We are foodies! Where are the best places to eat?

    Michael Smith’s FireWorks Feast at the Inn at Bay Fortune is an exceptional experience, but you’ll need to book in advance. Learn to shuck oysters then go buy a box of oysters from Colville Bay at The Lobster Shack in Souris. Receiver Coffee in Charlottetown is awesome - they are also a bakery. Don’t miss stopping at farm stands along the way for fresh eggs and vegetables.

  • Can we host our wedding at the Summer Home?

    Unfortunately we do not have the capacity to host any large events.
